Celine
The French luxury brand Céline was founded in Paris in 1945 by Céline Vipiana and her husband Richard. Initially specializing in bespoke children's shoes, the brand soon expanded its offerings to include leather goods and haute couture. Céline became synonymous with minimalist, elegant, and timeless fashion characterized by clean lines and a simple aesthetic. Particularly under long-time creative director Phoebe Philo, the brand achieved cult status and was celebrated for its understated, intellectual elegance. Since 1987, Céline has been part of the world's largest luxury goods conglomerate, LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton). In 2018, Hedi Slimane took over as creative director and implemented a radical rebranding. He changed the logo (from Céline to Celine) and introduced a rockier, more youthful style. Despite initial controversy, under Slimane the brand has attracted a new, younger audience and remains one of the most relevant and influential brands in luxury fashion. It remains highly sought after and is known for its desirable leather goods and ready-to-wear collections.
